Everton defender Phil Jagielka will have surgery on his ankle, according to manager David Moyes. It's unclear how long Jagielka will be out due to the injury.

Jagielka picked up the injury on Saturday during Everton's 3-1 win over Reading after clashing with Adam Le Fondre, and had to be subbed off just five minutes into the game. John Heitinga came on in relief, and could take Jagielka's place in the starting XI if he has to miss a prolonged stretch of games. On the season, Jagielka has a goal and an assist for Everton.

Everton's next game is next Saturday, March 9, in the FA Cup quarterfinals against Wigan at Goodison Park. Without more information it's tough to say for sure, but it's unlikely that Jagielka will be able to play in that game. Everton's next Premier League game will be on the 16th, when they face Manchester City at home.
