Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith says he's never felt better as the team heads into its third preseason game on Saturday with the Oakland Raiders. Smith tells WDFN in Detroit that he's been taking care of his body and just working hard to stay healthy.
Analysis: Smith figures to be the Week 1 starter at running back for the Lions and fantasy owners will probably have to draft him as a low No. 2 back because of this. Smith will receive the bulk of the work during the first two weeks because Jahvid Best is still out and Mikel Leshoure is suspended for the first two games. However, once Leshoure returns, Smith's workload could be reduced as the season goes along. Leshoure, who missed last season with a torn Achilles tendon, has been slowed by a hamstring injury. He is expected to make his Lions debut on Saturday.
