Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 WRs to look at for Week 8

Got Brandon Marshall on bye this week? Scrambling to find a replacement for Reggie Wayne? Here are five waiver options who could help you.

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Week 7 was not kind to fantasy owners. A rash of injuries plagued the league, with most coming from the quarterback spot. Wide receivers weren't safe, though, as Reggie Wayne was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

This week, six teams are on bye -- the Bears, Titans, Colts, Chargers, Ravens and Texans. That leaves Brandon Marshall and Andre Johnson owners in a lurch, but there are still some intriguing options on the waiver wire. Here are five players owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues who might be able to help you.

Terrance Williams, Dallas Cowboys (owned in 49 percent of leagues)

Williams continues to make leaps and strides in his rookie year. He has caught a touchdown pass in three straight games and quickly gained a rapport with Tony Romo. With recent reports suggesting that the Cowboys could shut down Miles Austin, Williams has a chance to earn a starting role for the rest of the season. He's locked in as an every-week WR3.

Harry Douglas, Atlanta Falcons (owned in 49 percent of leagues)

Douglas stepped up big in Atlanta's depleted receiver corps, grabbing seven catches for 149 yards and a touchdown without Julio Jones and Roddy White. White should be back soon, but Douglas will continue starting. It might be worth waiting a week or two to see what Douglas' targets look like once White comes back.

Nate Washington, Tennessee Titans (owned in 40 percent of leagues)

Jake Locker made a surprisingly early return from his hip injury and continued to feed his favorite veteran target. Washington's upside is limited at 30 years old and he doesn't see many passes, but he makes the most of what he's given, getting a solid 16.9 yards per reception. He clearly has Locker's trust and should be back on the WR4 radar after Tennessee's Week 8 bye.

Jarrett Boykin, Green Bay Packers (owned in 30 percent of leagues)

Boykin is the waiver wire darling of the week after putting up an 8/103/1 line with Randall Cobb and James Jones out. Jones hopes to be back soon, but Boykin has proven that he deserves more targets with Cobb out until at least Week 15. Aaron Rodgers has a lot of mouths to feed, so Boykin is unlikely to repeat his big Week 7 statline, but he's a name to look out for.

Darrius Heyward-Bey, Indianapolis Colts (owned in 20 percent of leagues)

Wayne's injury opens up an opportunity for Heyward-Bey. Will he take advantage of it? That's the biggest concern with this maddeningly inconsistent receiver, who just caught his first touchdown in Week 7 and has cleared 50 yards just once this season. Either way, he will have to step up with Wayne out. He's just a hold in fantasy leagues for now until he proves that he can deliver better numbers on a weekly basis.
