Fantasy football start/sit, Week 13: Bobby Rainey has low ceiling vs. Panthers

It's been boom or bust for Bobby Rainey in the last two weeks. What will it be this week?

Al Messerschmidt

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bobby Rainey is shaping up to be one of the best out-of-nowhere players in the NFL with his 167-yard, three-TD game from back in Week 11. He did lose most of his momentum last week with just 35 yards against the Detroit Lions last week.

He gets one of the toughest matchups of any player in the NFL in Week 13. The Carolina Panthers rank third in rushing yards allowed, first in points allowed, third in yardage allowed and have allowed just three rushing scores all year -- ranking second in the NFL. They have one of the best linebacking corps headlined by Luke Kuechly and their front four is one of the toughest in the league. Although, rookie Star Lotulelei is banged up.

There's a good chance that fantasy owners should have a better option. The Panthers have allowed more than one TD just once since Week 2, and that was against the New England Patriots. He's a dicey, low-end RB2 with minimal upside. Brian Leonard could also be in the mix and is is a better pass catcher.
