New England Patriots
The Patriots have won three of their last four games, and quarterback Tom Brady has shown why he's one of the best of all time during that stretch. Last week, he led the Pats in a victory against the Denver Broncos, overcoming a 24-point first-half deficit to top Peyton Manning in over time. The performance was easily one of the best of his career in a game that definitely appeared to be out of reach going into the third quarter.
A big part of Brady's success is his top target, Rob Gronkowski. Gronk has touchdowns in three straight games and he has 27 targets over that stretch. Nine targets a game is healthy no matter which way you look at it. Fantasy owners need to roll with him against the Texans in Week 13 for sure. That goes without saying.
Fantasy owners had to be disappointed in quarterback Case Keenum and receiver Andre Johnson last week; they combined to put up no touchdowns and a measly six points against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. To say the least, 2013 has been a lost season for the team. Johnson caught two passes for 36 yards last week after notching five touchdowns and close to 400 yards receiving combined in the three games before that.
If Keenum struggles connecting with Johnson again, Ben Tate will have to step up at running back. Tate was equally bad against the Jaguars last week, rushing for just a single yard on seven carries. Despite the performance, coach Gary Kubiak is sticking with Tate as the go-to guy this week. There's no doubt he'll have to step his game up against the Patriots to provide fantasy owners with any real value.
