Fantasy football sit/start advice, Week 15: Ryan Mathews

We take a look at whether or not you should start Ryan Mathews in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos.

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODA

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews has been decent this season. Mathews has led the Chargers to the No. 20 rushing attack in the league, at 111.8 rushing yards per game as a team. He leads the team with 207 carries for 885 yards and four touchdowns, with Danny Woodhead putting up 330 yards and two touchdowns off of 84 carries in relief.

Mathews has had a rocky career thus far, but he's at least managed to put up his second-highest rushing total thus far, and has eclipsed his total from 2012, a season which was limited due to injury. Mathews has been much better of late however, putting up over 340 yards in his last four games.

San Diego is set to take on the Denver Broncos on Thursday. Denver is 11-2 and well in control of the AFC West, and bested the Chargers once this season already.

Fantasy Sit/Start: Mathews had a decent game against the Broncos on Nov. 10. Mathews carried the ball 14 times for 59 yards and a touchdown, good a per-carry average of 4.2 yards. Denver boasts the No. 7 rush defense in the league, but the Chargers will need Mathews to be effective if they hope to win this game. The stats say Mathews should be a decent RB2 option this week, and a deep start.
