Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson is starting to get more involved in the offense, just like the coaching staff promised a month ago. The rookie had his best game yet against the Baltimore Ravens on a snowy field in Week 14. Patterson finished with five catches for 141 yards and a touchdown, adding 111 yards on kickoff returns. He showed off his explosive burst after the catch in the fourth quarter, taking a simple hitch route 79 yards to the end zone.
On the season, Patterson now has 395 yards and two touchdowns on 35 catches, and has been an asset in the return game, racking up 1,199 yards and two touchdowns on kickoffs.
Fantasy impact: The Vikings host the Philadelphia Eagles this week. With Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart both nursing injuries, Minnesota might be forced to turn to the passing game more with Matt Cassel under center. This gives Patterson an opportunity to see more targets than usual, and he has a good chance to shred the Eagles' poor secondary. As always, he's a boom-or-bust option, but he has the type of game-changing talent that can win fantasy matchups. Patterson is a worthy dice roll as a WR4 this week and has extra value in leagues that count return yards.
