In a season mired by injuries and countless mishaps, it's not difficult to see why Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons stand at 3-10 despite Super Bowl expectations over the summer.
The consolation to a season lost weeks ago, is that Roddy White, one of the marquee names hampered by injuries, is regaining the form that terrorized defensive backs for his career's entirety. Ryan has obviously taken notice of this, and has fed his top receiver over the past two games, connecting with White 18 times for 217 yards. As White gets his wheels back from under him, onlookers have noticed the same from the Falcons offense as a whole, despite them still dealing with the loss of Julio Jones.
Fantasy Spin: Ryan's fantasy production has petered out significantly since Week 7, but his fantasy owners are noticing a bit of an upswing to finish out the season. Before being bombarded with matchups versus the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers to close out 2013, Ryan will get a respite from a Washington Redskins defense that has not stopped anyone this season. They have allowed the sixth-most points to quarterbacks, second-most to running backs and fifth-most to tight ends.
If owners of Josh McCown or Aaron Rodgers are still in need of a contingency plan, they could do far worse than opt for Ryan if he's sitting on the waiver wire. Consider Ryan a low-end QB1 with sneaky-high upside for Week 15.
