Jordan Reed injury update: TE ruled out, won't play for fantasy owners

The Redskins tight end has already been ruled out for Week 15. We break down the fantasy implications.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed (concussion) has been ruled out for the team's Week 15 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Reed did not practice at all this week and never had a real shot at suiting up.

Fantasy Impact: With the season in the tank for the Redskins, no one would be surprised if they decided to shut down the promising rookie tight end for the season. Reed burst into fantasy relevance in Week 7 when he broke out for nine catches for 134 yards and one touchdown. Since then, he had been making plays all over the field and worked his way up to TE1 status.

Even if he did suit up, the Redskins have also shut down quarterback Robert Griffin III for the year, so he would have had to deal with rust and the unproven quarterback Kirk Cousins. Logan Paulsen will draw the start and Fred Davis will also see some snaps. The Falcons defense hasn't been able to stop anyone all year. However, this is still a situation to avoid in the semi-finals. Paulsen is low-upside TE2.
