Victor Cruz could miss final game for fantasy owners

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has been evaluated for a concussion and a knee sprain. We break down the fantasy implications.

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz could miss the rest of the season with multiple injuries, according to the New York Daily News. Cruz came down hard in the third quarter against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, landing on his head and shoulder.

Cruz lay motionless on the turf for some time, and was pulled from the game. It's possible he lost consciousness. He's obviously being evaluated for a concussion, and Cruz himself said that they were evaluating him for a possible knee sprain as well.

If Cruz were to return, he'd have to pass multiple tests as per the NFL's concussion protocol. That includes tests to practice, tests for contact, and a final test before gameday to be fully cleared. The Giants are not competing for a playoff spot at this point however, which could mean that the team elects to shut down Cruz.

Fantasy Impact: At this point, whether or not the Giants want to shut him down may not matter. His injuries seem significant, though there's no word on the severity of the potential knee sprain. But the concussion looked bad. Cruz came two yards short of having a 1,000-yard season, which might be motivation to bring him back. But at this point, his fantasy prospects for the final week of the fantasy season are not looking promising.
