Packers planning on Matt Flynn to start, Aaron Rodgers owners have to wait

The Packers got a great game out of Matt Flynn in Dallas on Sunday and they might get another one. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Green Bay Packers have not provided any updates on starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers and are planning to go with Matt Flynn for now.

"Aaron Rodgers’ situation will be evaluated Wednesday morning and we’ll have a plan for him on Wednesday," Packers Coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday when asked what the plan is for Rodgers this week. "We’re game-planning right now for Matt Flynn."

Flynn was tremendous in the second half on Sunday win, scoring four passing TDs and leading the offense down the field for another TD by Eddie Lacy on the ground. It truly was a tale of two halves with just three points in the first half from the team.

Fantasy impact: It's a pretty simple formula for fantasy owners. Aaron Rodgers would be a must-start player against the Steelers, but they do have a late game. If you have Rodgers and things stay the same, it makes sense to grab a backup quarterback with a start time after 4:25 ET Sunday evening. Matt Flynn could be a decent insurance policy, but Joe Flacco and Jay Cutler might be better options.
