Andre Johnson hauls in 8 catches for 121 yards for fantasy owners

The Texans' captain lived up to his status with another big game on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Thomas Campbell-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson logged another huge game on the stat sheet on Sunday versus the New England Patriots.

Houston quarterback Case Keenum looked toward his favorite receiver early and often, and for good reason. Johnson hauled in eight of his nine targets and totaled 121 receiving yards. Johnson was kept out of the end zone, as a Ben Tate-led running game took over when the Texans moved deeper into Patriots territory. Houston hardly had any reason to challenge New England through the air while deep in their territory, as all four of the Texans' touchdowns came on the ground.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy owners have to be accustomed to the weekly rollercoaster ride that is Andre Johnson, as the veteran receiver continues to have fluctuating fantasy point totals each week. Over the past five weeks, Johnson has recorded consecutive games of 229, 37, 116, 36 and 121 yards. He has recorded touchdowns in just two of his 12 games this season.

Next week, Johnson will face a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that held him to two catches for 36 yards in Week 12, but was torched by Brandon Weeden and Josh Gordon the following week. There are fantasy points for the taking, and Johnson has a decent chance to bounce back from the teams' last meeting. His upside makes it difficult for owners to bench him, and Johnson is firmly entrenched as a WR2 next Sunday as a result.
