Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller has been under-utilized so far in 2013, and the Miami coaching staff never really considered adding to his workload this season.
According to the Miami Herald, offensive coordinator Mike Sherman said on Monday that he and Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin "have never discussed" what Miller might be able to do with more carries. Miller carried the ball 22 times in Miami's win over the Jets in Week 13, but Sherman said that was a result of the Dolphins running so many plays and Daniel Thomas being out with an injury.
Fantasy impact: It's weird that the Dolphins never considered getting a talented running back like Miller the ball more often, but he's become the team's featured running back with Thomas out. He averaged just over three yards per carry on Sunday, but the Jets boast one of the league's best run defenses.
If Miller continues to see as many carries as he did on Sunday, he could be a surprise fantasy producer down the stretch.
