Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 16: Ray Rice might have a good game

It's been a disaster season for Ray Rice and his fantasy owners. Should he be trusted against the Patriots?

There are bad seasons, and there are really bad seasons. Ray Rice is beyond those, and he's been one of the most disappointing cases of any player in the NFL.

He will get a chance to redeem himself after the Baltimore Ravens pulled off an unbelievable comeback on Monday Night Football against the Detroit Lions. It was all on kicker Justin Tucker, and Rice totaled just 64 yards as the offense failed to score a touchdown.

The Ravens will need a little more offense than that against the New England Patriots in Week 16. The Pats are susceptible to giving up some rushing yards and rank 20th in fantasy points allowed to backs. Plus, they've been much worse in the second half of the season due to the losses of linebacker Jerod Mayo and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork.

Fantasy impact: Rice ranks just 26th among running backs in 0.5 point-per-reception leagues and is coming off a six-point dud in that format. After becoming one of the better backs in the pass game, he has just 263 yards through the air. That's nowhere near the 610 yards he's averaged over the previous four seasons. If you somehow made the fantasy championship with Rice, this might be the best time to use him.
