Wes Welker injury: Broncos WR out Sunday, no fantasy value remaining

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker won't be playing in Week 16. We break down the fantasy implications.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has still not been cleared to return to action after sustaining a concussion in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans. Welker has not practiced since suffering the injury, and will not play in Week 16 against the Houston Texans.

Welker also suffered a concussion against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11, but returned quickly from that one. This concussion is a bit more serious, as is generally the case the second time such an injury occurs in such a short amount of time. Denver lost to the San Diego Chargers in its last game out, showing less offensive firepower without Welker in the lineup.

Fantasy Impact: It sounds like Welker could miss Week 17 as well, and in the end, he's not even guaranteed to return to the playoffs. All of that is inconsequential for fantasy owners, as only Week 16 matters. Unfortunately, Welker definitely will not be playing on Sunday against the Texans and fantasy owners should probably just release him. Welker doesn't have much dynasty value at this point and he will not help you in your championship matchup.
