A.J. Green cashes in for fantasy owners in great matchup

The Vikings were up to their usual tricks of giving up a ton of points and A.J. Green was in the middle of it. We break down the fantasy implications.

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green caught two touchdowns in Sunday' 42-14 victory. He was targeted 12 times, catching seven of those for 97 receiving yards.

Green entered the day ranking sixth in receiving yards, 14th in touchdowns and sixth in receptions, so he gained some ground with a great game on Sunday. He's become one of the most complete receivers in the game and was targeted 18 times last week, catching on nine of them for 93 yards and no scores against he Steelers. His two scores vs. Minnesota put him in double-digit touchdown territory for two consecutive seasons and he will have a chance to eclipse the 100-catch plateau with just six catches in Week 17.

Fantasy impact: He might not have lived up to his top-15 ADP in standard leagues, but his owners won't be complaining at all. The stud receivers like Green have a good chance of changing the draft strategies in fantasy leagues. In the year of over a half-dozen busts in the running back world over the first two rounds, it might make sense to just take more receivers in the early part of drafts. The third-year receiver will be a top-five play in Week 17 against the Ravens.
