Dwayne Bowe injury update: WR ruled out for Chiefs, fantasy owners

The Chiefs wide receiver has been ruled out for Week 17. We break down the fantasy implications.

Joe Robbins

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe (concussion) has already been ruled out and won't play in the team's Week 17 game against the San Diego Chargers. Bowe suffered the concussion in the middle of the week and the Chiefs don't have anything to play for so they will rest him and hope that he clears protocol in the for the playoffs.

Fantasy Impact: Bowe's fantasy season has been a disappointment and he'll finish the year with 57 receptions for 673 yards and five touchdowns. He didn't manage to cross the 100-yard receiving mark once. He's struggled to make big plays all year as his 11.8 yards per catch is well below his 13.6 career average. With Bowe out of commission, Dexter McCluster is in line for a larger role.

McCluster's season hasn't been anything to write home about as the third receiver in a run-first offense. However, a larger role along with his punt returning duties gives him a little fantasy value. The Chargers secondary also allows the third most points to wide receivers. McCluster will be a decent flex option this week.
