Houston Texans running back Ben Tate is now the starter after Arian Foster went down with a back injury and had to have surgery. He'd already been playing a lot this season, but he's recently taken over a full load, and most recently, he's responded well.
In Week 13 against the New England Patriots, Tate delivered a 102-yard, 3-touchdown performance off of 22 carries. He had a long of 20 yards and a per-carry average of 4.3 yards. He and Andre Johnson both teed off on the Patriots defense, but the Texans did ultimately fall, 34-31.
Still, Tate has looked solid, and should be considered no less threatening than Foster was this season. Tate has 151 carries for 646 yards and four touchdowns on the season.
Fantasy Sit/Start: Tate and the Texans will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football in Week 14. Jacksonville has a poor run defense, allowing 130.4 rushing yards per game on average, which puts them at No. 29 in the league. Tate is a must-start for fantasy owners at this point, and should be regarded as such for what little is left of this fantasy season. He should have a big day against the Jaguars.
