Fantasy football rankings, Week 14: Running backs for PPR and standard leagues

New, comments

Cue the Jim Mora sound effects. It's time for the fantasy playoffs for most owners. Check out how we rank the top 50 backs for standard and PPR leagues.

If you're in the playoffs, you probably got here with some solid running backs. Although, with the fantasy landscape shifting toward PPR formats, that's certainly not a lock. Some receivers are capable of putting up huge games and carrying you so much that you don't even have to have a full set of backs. For instance, one of my teams in a deep 10-team format (two QB, three RB, three WR, two flex), was rolling with Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Rashard Mendenhall for most of the season before Ben Tate and Andre Brown got hot, and now I'm in the playoffs.

It doesn't matter how you got here, and there are a lot of ways to skin a cat in fantasy football. The point I'm trying to make here is you should have a good feel of the winning combination of your team. You should know your format, and looking at the trends of points scored by your guys can be helpful. If you're taking a risk, you should feel it. For example, if you're going around asking your friends "Is it too crazy to start Jacquizz Rodgers over Rashad Jennings because of the matchup?" questions, then you probably shouldn't even be doing that.

Simply put, play the best guys that give you the best chance to win and are least likely to let you down. Don't get cute.
