Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 11: Damien Williams steps up with Lamar Miller hindered

The injury to Miami's starter threw the team's whole backfield into confusion. We break down the fantasy implications.

With No. 1 running back Lamar Miller dealing with a sprained AC joint, the Miami Dolphins let Damien Williams and Daniel Thomas carry more of the load than normal Sunday. The end result was none of the three had a remarkable fantasy day when the Dolphins lost to the Detroit Lions, 20-16.

Williams got the most touches of the three, with seven carries for 34 yards and three catches for 27. Thomas and Miller got five touches apiece; Miller had four carries for 10 yards and a catch for negative-4, while Thomas carried the ball five times for 14 yards.

Fantasy impact: Miller is still the Dolphins' No. 1 running back going forward, though he was obviously hindered by his injury Sunday. With Miami's next game coming on a short week Thursday night, there's every reason to think Miller will still be at less than full strength.

As the NFL moves out of the byes, fewer owners will be desperate for a running back. That said, those that are might look to Williams for Week 11, as he has potential in the most desperate of situations. As for Miller, it seems like the smart move is to let him ride the fantasy bench for Week 11 and capitalize on the extra few days of rest for Week 12.
