Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 9: Ben Tate makes for a high risk/high reward start

Ben Tate has had trouble getting much going recently. Can he pick it up in Week 9?

Cleveland Browns running back Ben Tate has managed to stay healthy for the last month, a feat that he hasn't always been able to accomplish throughout his career. The results have been mixed. After two productive outings in Weeks 5 and 6, Tate has run for only 62 yards on 31 carries over the last two weeks (2 YPC), finding the end zone once.

The main factor that helps to explain the recent decline in production is the fact that the Browns All-Pro center Alex Mack was placed on injured reserve two weeks ago after breaking his fibula. The clear correlation between Mack's absence and Tate's production casts a gloomy outlook for Tate's value for the rest of the season.

Fantasy Impact: Tate has an excellent chance at a bounce-back this week as the Browns take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their front-seven that gives up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. Owners should start Tate as a high risk/high reward RB2.
