Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 9: Austin Davis is a low-end QB play

The breakout quarterback for the Rams has struggled to find consistency. Can he step his game up in Week 9?

St. Louis Rams quarterback Austin Davis has played about as well as one can expect for a second-year man who went undrafted in 2012. Unfortunately, that hasn't been enough for fantasy owners. Through seven games, Davis has completed 150 of his 230 pass attempts (65.2 completion rate) for 1,680 yards, 10 touchdowns, five interceptions and two fumbles lost. Things won't get any easier for Davis, as three of his starting offensive linemen went down last week with injuries. Add that to the loss of top wide receiver Brian Quick for the season, and it's tough to be excited about his outlook for the rest of the year.

Fantasy Impact: To make things worse, Davis will take on the San Francisco 49ers this week. He's isn't likely to see many opportunities to make plays, as their defense has given up the eighth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Davis remains a back-end QB2 play, and owners looking for a streamer this week can likely do better.
