Fantasy start/sit advice: Buccaneers RB Charles Sims won't play, Bobby Rainey owners benefit

Rookie running back Charles Sims is active but won't play Sunday. Bobby Rainey and Mike James will get the workload. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Rookie running back Charles Sims was activated from short-term I.R. Saturday, but it appears as though Sims won't see the field in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns. It was first reported by ESPN's Adam Caplan.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers backfield has been underwhelming, and there was speculation that Sims would be given work in hopes of a spark on the offense. It looks as if we may need to wait another week before determining whether or not Sims can offer some improvement. Bobby Rainey will likely see the bulk of the workload against the Browns.

Fantasy impact: While Sims was far from a "must-start" in fantasy leagues, fantasy owners were hoping to see what he could provide with a handful of carries in Week 9. Rainey owners will be able to plug him in as an RB2 against Cleveland's pedestrian run defense. Expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 touches for Rainey Sunday. If Rainey struggles, Sims will have plenty of opportunity to earn a spot atop the depth chart in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons.
