Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon will be on a "pitch count" this week, according to head coach Mike Pettine, via USA Today. Gordon is returning from a 10-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse and personal conduct policies, and is preparing for his first action of the season. All throughout the week, Pettine and the Browns have attempted to temper expectations for the young receiver.
Frankly, it's a little surprising, given that Gordon has been so excellent since entering the league. It makes sense he'd need to get accustomed to playing in the NFL again, but it seems odd how much the Browns have tried to hammer this point home throughout the week. They're likely telling the truth -- Gordon won't have a full workload Sunday -- but it's still interesting.
Fantasy Impact: It's true that fantasy owners should temper their expectations slightly given the long layoff, but it would be ridiculous to recommend anything other than Gordon being a must-start at this point. Maybe it doesn't work out, but the potential for him to put up huge numbers is too great to ignore.
