Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 12: Matthew Stafford

New, comment

Matthew Stafford has Calvin Johnson back, but he still stumbled in Week 11. Should fantasy owners start him this week?

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has not performed to the expectations of fantasy owners. Amazingly, he ranks as only the 16th-best quarterback on the season despite not missing any games due to injury. Last week was an exceptional letdown against the Arizona Cardinals, who have been one of the easiest matchups for quarterbacks all season.

Besides that game, there were some signs of Stafford coming around. He took care of business against a second-ranked Miami Dolphins defense in Week 10 as part of a three-game streak with multiple TDs. Plus, receiver Calvin Johnson is fairly healthy this week.

Stafford will need to be on his A game against the New England Patriots. The Pats are the 14th-toughest matchup on the season, but their strength of schedule against quarterbacks is not great. Quarterbacks Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler all have had success against them in each of the last three weeks.

Fantasy impact: Stafford isn't the greatest start in the world, but he's still a QB10-12 this week. Don't panic.
