Fantasy football sit/start advice, Week 10: Giovani Bernard

Bernard is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Browns. We break down the fantasy implications.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati Bengals running back Givoani Bernard is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Cleveland Browns. Bernard has a hip injury, and is unlikely to play. The doubtful designation is used to denote a 25-percent chance of playing, and that seems generous. Bernard was a limited participant in practice and missed Cincinnati's last game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bernard has 109 carries for 446 yards and five touchdowns on the season. He's been solid, leading the Bengals to the ninth-ranked rushing attack in the league at 121.4 rushing yards per game. He'll be missed against the Cleveland Browns, a team that has struggled to stop the run this season. The Browns are No. 30 in the league with 139.6 rushing yards allowed per game.

Fantasy Impact: Bernard won't play on Thursday. He technically has a chance to, but it would be a big surprise. Fantasy owners got a huge game out of backup Jeremy Hill when Bernard missed Sunday's game against Jacksonville, and they can expect more of the same against the Browns. Hill carried the ball 24 times for 154 yards and two touchdowns against the Jaguars. Sit Bernard and start Hill.
