Doug Martin misses practice; doesn't have much fantasy value

Doug Martin missed practice again on Thursday thanks to an ankle injury. We break down the fantasy implications.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin missed practice on Thursday, according to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune. Martin is dealing with an ankle injury that forced him out of Tampa Bay's Week 9 game against the Cleveland Browns. He also missed two games earlier in the season and hasn't been healthy at all this year.

When he's played, he's struggled. In Week 1, Martin carried the ball nine times for a total of 9 yards. He has 58 carries for 166 yards and a touchdown on the season, a per-carry average of just 2.9 yards. This season is looking even worse than his 2013 campaign, in which he only played in six games, and a far cry from 2012, when he put up 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie.

Fantasy Impact: At this point, it seems like Martin is going to miss another game. The Buccaneers play the NFC South rival Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, but Martin is more likely to return against Washington in Week 11. That said, when he does return, there's no guarantee that he'll be starting. He'll likely be firmly behind Bobby Rainey when he returns.
