Drew Davis placed on PUP list, on fantasy sideline until Week 7, at least

The Falcons placed Drew Davis on their injured list due to foot surgery. We break down the fantasy implications.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drew Davis (foot surgery) has been placed on the PUP list by the team, which means he'll miss the first six weeks of the regular season, according to a report by Vaughn McClure of ESPN. Davis caught 12 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games last season.

Fantasy Impact: Davis has officially been a member of the Falcons for three seasons but only saw action the last two years. Although he's talented, Roddy White, Julio Jones and Devin Hester are all ahead of him on the team's depth chart. Add to that the fact he'll miss six games right off the bat and by the time Davis displays any fantasy value, it'll likely be too late to take a gamble on him.

Fantasy owners would have probably been better looking elsewhere on draft day even if Davis was at 100 percent, but now that he's not, the most he'll be is a sneaky waiver wire pickup come midseason. Given the injuries sustained by Atlanta's receivers last season, that's not too crazy a proposition, either.
