Maurice Jones-Drew says he'll be ready for Week 4; fantasy value still low

Maurice Jones-Drew should return in Week 4, but the Raiders' running game hasn't inspired much confidence thus far. We break down the fantasy implications.

Oakland Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew says he'll be ready to play for the team's Week 4 matchup against the Miami Dolphinsaccording to Marc Sessler of NFL.com. Jones-Drew said that he would "definitely" be in the lineup, before adding that the decision is not his to make but "I feel like I'll be able to play."

Jones-Drew returned to practice last week but apparently needed more time to recover from a surgical procedure on his hand. Darren McFadden made the start in Week 3 and had a so-so game. He carried the ball 18 times for 59 yards with no touchdowns. On the season, he has 34 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown. Jones-Drew has nine carries for 11 yards with no touchdowns.

Fantasy Impact: Jones-Drew should be back in action for fantasy owners, and they can start him with confidence regarding his injuries ... but they really shouldn't when it comes to his production. The Raiders are second-to-last in the league in rushing yards. McFadden isn't getting hurt on every play anymore, but he's also not playing particularly well. Jones-Drew hasn't had many opportunities, but he really needs to show something before he earns the trust of fantasy owners.
