Eric Decker placed on IR, out for fantasy owners

New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker needs season-ending surgery on his torn rotator cuff. We break down the fantasy impact.

The New York Jets announced Wednesday that wide receiver Eric Decker will be placed on the injured reserved list. The move comes after discovering the seventh-year wideout will need season-ending surgery on his torn rotator cuff, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Decker initially hurt his shoulder in Week 2 against the division rival Buffalo Bills. He further aggravated the injury in the Jets’ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, sidelining the WR for the team’s next two games.

Prior to going down, Decker had a solid start to the season with nine receptions for 194 yards and two touchdowns. The Jets have struggled early with 1-4 start to the season.

Fantasy Impact: This is another big blow for an ailing Jets team. Decker is a big weapon for fantasy owners to lose as well.

Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson are filling in as the Jets' No. 2 and 3 receivers in Decker’s absence. While Brandon Marshall is getting most of the targets, Enunwa is playing well and is worth picking up in most leagues. He has 294 yards on 27 catches and a touchdown so far this season.
