Ty Montgomery, Randall Cobb to be inactive for Packers, fantasy owners

The Packers are going to deactivate their lead running back (who also happens to be a wide receiver). We break down the fantasy implications.

There is some big news in Atlanta for Week 8. Green Bay Packers wide receiver/running back Ty Montgomery and wide receiver Randall Cobb are both going to be inactive for the team’s matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, according to FOX Sports NFL reporter Jay Glazer.

Cobb is not a surprise as NFL reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted Sunday morning that the wide receiver would not play. However, Rapoport also said that Montgomery was expected to play. Montgomery was a limited participant in practice all week, and listed as questionable.

Fantasy impact: Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson are the biggest gainers in this one. Adams in particular could build on a big Week 7 performance, as the Packers face a bad Falcons defense.

The running back position is another question entirely. Don Jackson and Knile Davis will likely split carries against the Falcons. If you are desperate for help, our guess is that Jackson ends up with more touches than Davis.
