LeGarrette Blount limited in practice, fantasy status still looks good

The New England Patriots running back showed up on the injury report Wednesday with a hip injury. We break down the fantasy impact.

New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount was limited in practice Wednesday and showed up on the team’s injury report with a hip problem, reports Nate Ulrich of The Akron Beacon Journal. Blount has struggled with hip issues in the past. Most recently, he was sidelined for the final month of the 2015 season and missed all of OTAs dealing with the chronic problem.

The Patriots will likely give Blount’s final status on Friday. It is unknown if the seven-year RB will have to miss any time due to his hip issue. As of now, he is expected to suit up Sunday to face the Cleveland Browns. Blount has rushed for 352 yards and four touchdowns in the first four weeks this season.

Fantasy impact: Since Blount is practicing, owners should not be too worried he will miss Week 5. That is especially good news because he has an upside matchup against a weak Cleveland Browns defense. Blount, if healthy, is a solid RB1 candidate this week.

In the unlikely chance Blount is out, James White and Brandon Bolden will be the next men up for the Patriots. Though a long shot, White may be worth considering if he gets the start in Blount’s absence. The Browns have allowed at least one rushing touchdown to every opponent this season.
