Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Charles Sims is listed as doubtful for Monday night's Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers. Battling a knee injury, Sims will most likely not be available to play this week.
Sims picked up the injury in last week's loss to the Denver Broncos. He did not practice all week. With Doug Martin also doubtful due to his lingering hamstring issue, journeyman Jacquizz Rodgers will get the start at running back this week.
Fantasy impact: Aside from last week's no-show against the Broncos, Sims has done a fairly good job filling in for Martin. The Bucs have a bye in Week 6 so they're essentially punting this game and waiting for key players to come back fully rested.
Martin should be returning by then, which would drop Sims back to his usual fantasy role as a PPR-friendly flex option.
Rodgers is a mediocre talent and the Panthers still have a strong front seven, despite their struggles on defense. He's only a desperation RB3 play if you have no better options this week.
