The Pittsburgh Steelers have declared wide receiver Markus Wheaton (shoulder) OUT for the team's Monday Night Football matchup with Washington. Wheaton was limited in practice early this week and sat out practice sessions. He has been dealing with soreness in his right shoulder since Wednesday. The third-year WR told Steelers reporter Chris Adamski Wednesday that "he should be good to go" for Week 1, but we will have to wait for Week 2 to see where things stand.
Fantasy Impact: Wheaton’s seemingly minor shoulder injury is turning out to be a bigger deal than expected. Thankfully the Steelers ruled him out in their final injury report. Owners are not left gambling on a Monday night game. His absence opens up a huge opportunity for Sammie Coates, who will start in place of Wheaton. Coates remains a flier for Week 1, but he has a chance to secure more playing time with a strong performance.
