Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson got an injury scare on Sunday that may linger for the near future. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Wilson is dealing with a "significant" sprained ankle that "puts his availability into question" for Week 2.
Wilson suffered the injury when he got his foot stepped on during Sunday's season opener against the Miami Dolphins. He didn't miss a single snap and even led the Seahawks to a game-winning touchdown drive, but Wilson was clearly in pain and his signature mobility was completely sapped. He finished with 258 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 27-of-43 passing.
Fantasy impact: The Seahawks downplayed Wilson's injury after the game, but it doesn't sound like he'll be a sure thing to go against the Los Angeles Rams next week. Seattle is in a tough position here, given that the backup QB is undrafted rookie Trevone Boykin.
Even if Wilson ends up playing, fantasy owners should start looking for a Plan B on the waiver wire. We'll be updating his status throughout the week once the Seahawks resume practicing.
