The New England Patriots have major questions at quarterback ahead of Thursday's clash with the Houston Texans.
With Tom Brady still serving his four-game suspension and Jimmy Garoppolo dealing with a sprained AC joint, we could see Jacoby Brissett make his first NFL start this week. It looks like Garoppolo will miss this game, so Brissett will have to take over a loaded Patriots offense against a stout Texans defense.
Brissett was New England's third-round selection out of NC State in this year's NFL draft. It was hard to get a feel for how good he was in the preseason while playing with third- and fourth-string players, but he did well last week vs. the Miami Dolphins. In relief of Garoppolo, Brissett completed six of his nine passes for 92 yards while rushing for 12 yards on four carries.
Fantasy Impact: Brissett is still a major unknown at this point, and even with New England's offensive firepower, he should not be started in any fantasy leagues this week. Counting on a quarterback making his first start is never a smart move in fantasy football, especially when it is against the NFL's third-ranked pass defense.
Yahoo! has Brissett ranked as the 31st-best quarterback this week. You should not even have Brissett on your bench with Brady being close to a return, so do not worry about starting the rookie either.
While Brissett has the potential to put up solid production with so many weapons around him, it is too risky to start him in any fantasy league this week.
