The Detroit Lions placed running back Ameer Abdullah on injured reserve with a foot injury entering Week 3. The Lions have not designated how much time Abdullah will miss but conflicting reports have come out regarding the report.
One report from NFL Insider Ian Rapoport states that the Lions hope that Ameer Abdullah will return after the Week 10 bye. However, a source told ESPN Insider Adam Schefter says that the “team believes he will miss the rest of the season.” The lack of disclosure for his return timetable makes the Lions fearful of the latter.
Fantasy Outlook: With Abdullah on injured reserve, fantasy owners are dropping him in exchange for a player that will be able to help them throughout the season. With the earliest time for his return being Week 11, most owners will be looking towards the playoffs by that time. Unfortunately, Abdullah’s fantasy outlook for the remainder of the 2016 season will be non-existent until at least Week 11.
