Chicago Bears running back Jeremy Langford was diagnosed with an ankle sprain Monday, after being carted off the field in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. Langford left the game in the third quarter Sunday with what was initially feared to be an Achilles injury. Prior to his exit, the Bears’ 2015 fourth-round draft pick had 46 total yards on five touches. Early indications are that Langford will miss multiple weeks due to the sprain.
Fantasy Impact: Langford avoided a big injury scare with the diagnosis of a high-ankle sprain. Though he will likely miss some time for the Bears, it will be a much shorter recovery than the initial Achilles injury diagnosis. In Langford’s absence, the Bears will look to rookie Jordan Howard to fill the void. Howard took a number of snaps with Langford in Dallas, and rushed for 45 yards while catching four passes for 47 yards in Chicago’s loss. Owners should note that Howard has the potential to run away with Langford’s starting role.
