Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said tight end Tyler Eifert is “close” to returning, according Bengals.com editor Geoff Hobson. Eifert returned to limited practice last week, his first time back on the field since having ankle surgery during the off-season.
The fourth-year TE suffered an ankle injury during the 2015 Pro Bowl and was sidelined all the first three weeks of the season. He’s been recovering slowly since.
Eifert is still listed as questionable for Week 4. Should he play, it will not be a full game and he will take limited snaps, Coach Lewis tells Hobson.
Fantasy Impact: Eifert is a big plus for fantasy owners’ lineup even if he is limited. While he may not get a lot of all-purpose yards, he has upside as a touchdown threat.
That’s something the Pro Bowler is very familiar with, as he was the top touchdown receiving tight end in the league last season.
