It would seem like Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton can bounce back against the New England Patriots this week. The Patriots were just lit up by rookie Deshaun Watson in Week 3 to the tune of 301 yards and two touchdowns.
However, things are not right in Carolina and especially with Newton this season. The Panthers have Newton running less, by design. He is also missing all of his top receiving threats from a season ago. Greg Olsen is out for the season with a broken foot, Kelvin Benjamin is nursing a knee injury, and the team traded Ted Ginn Jr. to the Saints in the offseason.
Newton is also playing banged up. Recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, Newton has thrown four interceptions and only two passing touchdowns so far this season. Through three weeks he has only rushed for 46 yards on 14 carries, and he has one rushing touchdown.
Fantasy impact: Talk about a letdown, Newton has not really done anything in fantasy this season and things are not going to get better anytime soon. Newton has no one to throw to, as usual, he is playing with injuries, and now the Panthers do not want him to run. He might have an easy matchup against New England Sunday, but there is no way to trust Newton at this point.
