Fantasy football Week 4: Amari Cooper start or sit Sunday?

Dropped balls have hurt Cooper this season. We look at the fantasy impact.

NFL: Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper is having a rough start to his season. He leads the league in dropped balls with six through three games, three more than any other receiver in the NFL. Through three games Cooper has 10 receptions for just 101 yards and a touchdown. He is averaging just under 34 yards receiving per game.

Cooper does draw the best corners from opposing defenses. Sunday, he will be covered by Denver Broncos Aqib Talib, one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in the NFL. Last week Cooper was shadowed by Josh Norman and was held to one catch for 6 yards.

Fantasy impact: Poor Amari. Between the dropped balls and the tight coverage, he cannot catch a break. The Raiders are not hurting much without him either. Week 3 withstanding, Oakland’s passing game has not struggled and has scored six touchdowns already this season. Looks like Cooper will be playing decoy for the foreseeable future. No value in that.

Recommendation: Sit
