Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 6: What to do with Ed Dickson on ‘Thursday Night Football’

Will Dickson have another big game against Philadelphia Thursday night? We look at the fantasy impact.

NFL: Carolina Panthers at Detroit Lions Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Carolina Panthers tight end Ed Dickson had a career-making game against the Detroit Lions Sunday. The eight-year veteran TE caught a perfect five passes for a career-high 175 yards in the Panthers win. His receiving yard total in Week 5 was greater than his previous three seasons’ receiving total.

Since losing Greg Olsen for the season, Dickson has had 10 targets and caught nine of those passes. In Weeks 3 and 4 he had 237 yards receiving for the Panthers. Thursday night Dickson will face a Philadelphia Eagles defense that has held tight ends to 234 receiving yards through five games this season.

Fantasy impact: Dickson is on the fantasy radar now that he has put together back-to-back 60-plus-receiving-yard games. That being said, he did it against New England who has a terrible defense and Detroit who decided to leave him open all game. The Eagles will not be as easy for Dickson to master. Still, with his target total rising and average yards per catch through the roof, Dickson has some momentum to ride against Philadelphia.
