Marshawn Lynch had his second-best rushing game of the season Sunday in the Oakland Raiders’ loss to the Los Angles Chargers. Beastmode carried the ball 13 times for 63 yards in Week 6, but he was unable to catch any of his two targets in the matchup. Lynch was the clear workhorse in the backfield this week with eight more touches and 40 more yards than third-down carrier Jalen Richard.
The Raiders hope that Lynch can beast on the Kansas City Chiefs Thursday night, especially with QB Derek Carr playing with an injury. The Chiefs have one of the bottom-six rushing defenses in the league, but they have only given up one 100-plus-yard rushing game to an opposing running back. That happened to be Sunday against the Steelers when Le’Veon Bell had 179 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries.
Fantasy impact: Thursday night is a toss up for Lynch. He is coming off a decent Week 6 performance while his opponents are reeling from a terrible job against Bell Sunday. This could play into Lynch’s favor. However, the Chiefs had not given up more than 80 yards to any other running back prior to Sunday. Since Lynch will handle most of the rushing load and the Raiders’ passing game is handicapped, he will get a lot of touches Thursday night. He may or may not go Beastmode, but his high ceiling is attractive.
