Melvin Gordon injury update: How to handle Chargers RB vs. Patriots

Melvin Gordon is battling a foot injury that has him iffy to play in Week 8.

Editor’s update: Gordon is set to play, according to Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport, but his foot is a concern.

The Los Angeles Chargers may not have Melvin Gordon when they take on the New England Patriots in Week 8.

Gordon is listed as questionable on the final injury report due to a foot injury. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, though he went full on Friday.

The third-year running back has been a major boom-or-bust guy in recent weeks. Over the last month, he has two games in which he’s scored over 27 fantasy points, but he also has two games in which he scored under four points.

That’s never ideal, but the good news is he now faces a Patriots defense that’s proven to be very vulnerable this year. They’re also without star linebacker Dont’a Hightower due to a pectoral injury.

Fantasy Impact: Gordon will face a Patriots defense allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs this season. As long as he’s active, keep Gordon in your starting lineup.
