Fantasy football start/sit, Week 10: What to do with Tyrod Taylor

Taylor should have Kelvin Benjamin available this week. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Buffalo Bills hit a stumbling block last week, getting dropped by the New York Jets on Thursday night as the defense got chewed up by New York’s running game. On the offensive side, Tyrod Taylor was less than stellar, but he took advantage of garbage time to finish with 285 yards and two touchdowns on 29-of-40 passing.

Taylor’s never really had high passing volume in the Bills offense, which prefers to run the ball and grind out yards rather than attacking downfield. The good news is that Taylor mostly takes care of the ball and avoids turnovers. Through eight games, he’s on pace for 20 touchdowns to just four interceptions on the year.

Fantasy impact: Taylor should get another weapon added this week with Kelvin Benjamin, who sat out Week 9 after the Bills acquired him at the trade deadline. That at least improves the receiver corps, which has been of the worst in the league so far.

Taylor will always be a boom-or-bust QB2 type, and that’s his fantasy ceiling when he takes on the New Orleans Saints in Week 10. New Orleans’ pass defense is much improved this year, thanks to the addition of rookie Marshon Lattimore. They’re in the middle of the pack, allowing the 20th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Still, Taylor has a safe floor, and his running ability gives him appealing upside most weeks.
