Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Sammy Watkins finally got a chance to shine in the offense Sunday. Watkins made a fingertip grab for a 67-yard touchdown in the blowout win over the New York Giants. It was Watkins only catch in the game and his first touchdown since Week 3.
Sunday the Rams offense has another favorable matchup, against the Houston Texans. Watkins, however, can still be a bust if he does not get more targets. The Texans defense has struggled to defend the pass the last two games with several players battling injuries. Watkins saw only two targets from QB Jared Goff in Week 9.
Fantasy impact: Watkins has play-making abilities, but the Rams do not seem to value his skills much. Since Week 3, Watkins has one game with more than one catch and Sunday was his best receiving game since then. He clearly is a boom or bust player; the problem is he cannot have a breakout performance if the QB does not throw him the ball. Houston is another easy defense, however, Watkins is not used enough in the Rams offense to be in fantasy lineups.
