Fantasy football start/sit, Week 11: What to do with Corey Clement

The Eagles rookie rusher broke out in Week 9 while competing for touches in a crowded backfield. We look at the fantasy impact.

Rookie running back Corey Clement led the Philadelphia Eagles backfield in touches and touchdowns Week 9 over starter LeGarrette Blount and newly acquired Pro Bowler Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins. Clement notched 12 carries for 51 yards and two touchdowns and one catch for a 15-yard score in the blowout win over the Denver Broncos. It was his second game in a row with 10 or more carries and over 50 rushing yards. Clement also leads all Eagles rushers in touchdowns with three rushing scores and two touchdown catches.

Clement’s role is expected to dwindle a lot against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night. Ajayi is expected to have a much bigger role coming off the bye week and that will hurt Clement’s carries. The undrafted free agent could still see some action as a pass catcher out of the backfield as the best receiving threat in the Eagles rushing committee.

Fantasy impact: Clement is in an interesting position in Philadelphia. In the Eagles’ run committee, he is clearly the third option, however, he is coming on of late especially in the passing game. The Eagles like Clement’s pass-blocking abilities and he will see snaps as a result. That, unfortunately, does not guarantee touches. Clement has enough appeal to keep him on your radar, but no need to add him to the starting lineup yet.
