Fantasy football start/sit, Week 12: What to do with Case Keenum on Thursday

Keenum continues to earn his starting role with outstanding play. We break down the fantasy impact.

The Minnesota Vikings were elated to get franchise quarterback Teddy Bridgewater back in uniform in Week 10 after a 15-month injury hiatus. He has not seen game action yet, though, thanks to the incredible play of Case Keenum under center. Keenum has been on fire since Bridgewater was activated to the 53-man roster, posting 300 total yards in back-to-back games. He’s also thrown five touchdowns in the air in the same span. Keenum had two interceptions in Week 10 but had no turnovers in Week 11.

Thursday, the Vikings take on the division rival Detroit Lions. The Lions’ passing defense ranks 20th in the NFL, but they do cause a lot of turnovers — the Lions have 11 interceptions this season, tied for the fifth-most in the league. They held Keenum in check in their Week 4 matchup, as he completed just 16 passes for 219 yards.

Fantasy impact: Keenum killed the whispers of Bridgewater taking over the starting role in Minnesota again this week. It is still on the table, but he has not let the pressure get in his head. Keenum clearly has momentum in his favor right now. Though he struggled in their first meeting, he should be able to handle a Lions defense that has given up over 230 passing yards or a score to every QB they have faced since their Week 7 bye week. Keenum should definitely be in your lineup this week and has the potential to stay there for the remainder of the season.
