The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ season has flown off the rails and they’re essentially playing out the string now. A team that entered the season as trendy playoff contenders is mostly out of contention before Thanksgiving, and injuries are partly to blame. Jameis Winston is still out with a shoulder injury, meaning Ryan Fitzpatrick is the starting quarterback for the time being.
A 34-year-old journeyman, Fitzpatrick is who he is at this point. He actually had one of his better games last week, throwing for 275 yards and two touchdowns on 22-of-37 passing against the Miami Dolphins. Known for his high turnover total, Fitzpatrick has three interceptions in five games this season.
Fantasy impact: You know what you’re getting with Fitzpatrick, and if you’re starting him in fantasy, it’s likely you exhausted all your other options. He has a decent Week 12 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, who are giving up the 16th-most fantasy points to quarterback. But owners can surely do better as a QB2 streamer with the bye weeks over.
