Fantasy football Week 12: Doug Martin, start or sit?

Martin has been a major bust this season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Doug Martin was expected to give the Tampa Ba Buccaneers’ offense a jolt when he came off his three-game suspension to start the season. Instead, Martin has been one of the biggest disappointments in football, contributing to a Bucs offense that went off the rails.

Through seven games, Martin has just 343 yards and two touchdowns on 112 carries, averaging a meager 3.1 yards per carry. He has yet to clear the 100-yard mark and is prone to major duds, such as last week’s performance against the Miami Dolphins (19 carries, 38 yards).

Fantasy impact: The Bucs are still feeding Martin the rock because they really don’t have any better options, so sheer volume alone could keep him on the RB2 radar. However, he’s simply not doing anything with those carries and looks almost out of gas at age 28. The Atlanta Falcons are not an appealing matchup in Week 12, giving up the 10th-fewest fantasy points to running backs. Martin has been bench fodder most of the year and we don’t see that changing here.

Recommendation: Sit
